We live in a time when the phrase “digital transformation” is everywhere. It appears in speeches, press releases, and presentations, yet for many business leaders it remains a vague concept, difficult to translate into action. What does it actually mean to digitalize an organization? Where do you start? Which technologies truly add value and which are just noise?

To answer these questions, the Transilvania IT Cluster team, together with partners from The European Digital Innovation Hub in Transilvania (TEDIHT), developed the Digital Transformation Guide — a practical tool that translates technical language into an accessible, applied framework for managers and decision makers.

The Guide was officially launched at the Transilvania Digital Innovation Summit 2025, the event that brought hundreds of professionals from the private, academic, and public sectors to Cluj, all eager to understand how technology can generate real value within their organizations.

“We wanted to create a book that explains, through examples and clear language, the major concepts behind digitalization — from AI and cloud to organizational culture and ethics in the digital era. Many people hear these terms, but do not know how they connect. The Guide is, essentially, a translator between technical and managerial language,” explains the editorial team.

A Tool for Understanding, Not Just for Specialists

Written in a clear and balanced style, the Digital Transformation Guide combines theoretical explanations with practical instruments: digital maturity audits, strategic models, checklists, and concrete examples from companies that have already started this journey.

Step by step, readers discover how an organization can assess its current level of digitalization, define a clear direction, and invest intelligently in both technology and people.

Real Stories from the Transylvanian Ecosystem

The book also includes several regional case studies:

  • DigiDent Solutions, which developed customized titanium implants through additive manufacturing;
  • CargoTrack, a company using IoT technology to monitor waste management;
  • Clinica Medena, which introduced digital solutions for medical data management;
  • Eco Living Project, where technology supports green construction;
  • PSC Automatizări și Instalații and RehabX VR, examples of innovation and digital courage.

These stories demonstrate that digital transformation is not reserved for large corporations. It can begin with a single idea, a real need, and a willingness to learn.

Why Now

Romania is at a point where digitalization is no longer optional, but essential for competitiveness. The Guide offers clarity in a field still surrounded by confusion, emphasizing collaboration, ethics, and continuous learning.

“Digital transformation does not simply mean purchasing a software solution. It means rethinking processes, changing the way decisions are made, and placing data and people at the center of the organization,” the authors underline.
