Babes Bolyai University

The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science is defined by promoting education and research in mathematics and informatics and related fields, in accordance with the requirements of a knowledge-based society, through initial training, continuing education and integration into the university values ​​circuit, by providing a framework for multicultural, multilingual interferences, training in Romanian, Hungarian, German, English and last but not least by contributing to local, regional and national development from a socio-economic point of view, in accordance with the needs of the community.

The faculty has built a reputation by attracting very good students from all over the country, successfully training graduates and by promoting a performance research activity.

PhD Associate Professor (Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Dept of Computer Science) is very passionate about new trends and approaches in Machine Learning and Computer Vision, but also a devoted partisan of distributed systems,networking and Cloud technologies as parts of his teaching curricula at the university.

Alina Calin, PhD

Assistant Lecturer

Alina has over 11 years of experience in research and over 9 years of experience in teaching, specializing in computer science with a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning. She completed her Ph.D. studies in computer science in 2018 (Magna Cum Laude) and is currently pursuing postdoctoral studies at UBB in artificial intelligence with applications in agriculture, in collaboration with USAMV.

Camelia Chira

Professor

Camelia Chira is professor in computer science at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Babeş-Bolyai University (Romania) and senior researcher in Artificial Intelligence (AI) as part of the Metaheuristics for Complex Systems research group and the Research Institute on Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality and Robotics.

Adriana Mihaela Coroiu

Lecturer

Adriana Mihaela Coroiu, PhD in Computer Science, with expertise in the use of Artificial Intelligence, in general, and Machine Learning, in particular, for solving real-life problems has 10 years of experience in research and teaching activities.

Laura Diosan

Professor

Laura Diosan is full professor, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, BBU. Her research areas cover evolutionary optimisation, swarm intelligence and machine learning with excellent results obtained by hybrid models for image processing and classification. Research results have been published in journals and conference papers obtaining more than 300 citations.

Darius Bufnea

Lecturer

Darius Bufnea is a lecturer at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, UBB. He is the coauthor of four books and has authored over 35 research papers on topics such as: networking, parallel computing, and web technologies. His current focus and interest is on cyber security.

Anca Andreica

Professor

Anca Andreica is the dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Babeș-Bolyai University and she is full professor in the Department of Computer Science. Her research interests are in the area of artificial intelligence systems and image processing.

Horea Grebla

Professor

Horea Grebla, dipl eng phd, has been working in IT industry for more than 20 years, mainly as database professional. He also has been teaching at the Babes Bolyai University for the past 15 years. He is currently focusing on developing skills related to Cloud Computing and Machine Learning to be able to apply them in the future research topics.

Ioana Ciuciu

Assistant Professor

Assistant professor at Babes-Bolyai University. Ioana obtained her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Reims in 2009. Her R&D competencies mainly cover the areas of Big Data, information systems interoperability and knowledge modeling applied to various business domains.

Vladiela Petrașcu

Lecturer Professor

Vladiela Petrașcu is a lecturer professor within the Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. She received a PhD degree in computer science, as well as a MSc degree in databases. Her research and educational interests are in Software Engineering, with a focus on (semi)formal software modeling.
